We use four core ingredients in every Little Bee product. That’s it. No fillers, no water, no synthetic fragrance, no preservatives. Here’s what goes into every bar and why each one matters.

Our Ingredients

In order of proportion, most to least: Beeswax, Almond Oil infused with Certified Organic Calendula Flowers, Coconut Oil, Essential Oils (in scented varieties only).

Pure Beeswax

Beeswax is the backbone of every Little Bee product. It creates a protective barrier on the skin that locks in moisture without clogging pores, keeping skin soft and hydrated. Beeswax has natural antiviral and anti-inflammatory properties, and has long been recognized as one of the best natural ingredients for chapped lips, cracked skin, and rough hands. It’s also what gives our solid bars their firm, long-lasting form.

Almond Oil Infused with Certified Organic Calendula Flowers

Calendula is one of the most well-researched skin-healing botanicals available. It soothes dryness, itching, rashes, and irritation, and promotes overall skin health. We steep certified organic calendula flowers in almond oil to pull out the flowers’ powerful skin-healing compounds. Almond oil itself is a rich source of vitamins E and A, absorbs easily, and is gentle enough for all skin types — including sensitive skin. When the calendula-infused almond oil is combined with beeswax, the healing properties of the calendula are intensified.

Coconut Oil

Coconut oil has been used in skin and beauty care for centuries across cultures worldwide. It’s rich in medium-chain fatty acids that absorb quickly into the skin without blocking pores, and it’s a natural anti-inflammatory. It works alongside the beeswax and almond oil to deliver deep, lasting moisture and gives our bars a smooth, skin-friendly feel on contact.

Essential Oils

All of our scented products use only pure essential oils. Essential oils are naturally occurring oils extracted from the flowers, leaves, bark, and resins of plants. We never use synthetic fragrance oils or perfumes of any kind. Essential oils are generally better tolerated by people with scent sensitivities, and they bring genuine aromatherapeutic benefits alongside their natural scent. Our “Natural” variety contains no essential oils at all, making it ideal for those who prefer completely fragrance-free care.

What You Won’t Find in Our Products

No synthetic fragrance or perfume oils. We use essential oils only. Synthetic fragrances can cause reactions in people with chemical sensitivities and are often derived from artificial compounds. We don’t use them, ever.

No water or fillers. Most conventional lotions are 60–80% water. Our concentrated, solid lotion bars and lip balms don’t.

No preservatives. Because there’s no water in our formula, preservatives aren’t needed. The beeswax and oils are naturally shelf-stable.

No plastic packaging. Our lotion bars come in recyclable, biodegradable packaging. Our lip balms use eco-friendly paperboard tubes.

How to Use a Little Bee Lotion Bar

Hold the bar between your palms for a few seconds, or swipe it directly onto dry skin. Your body temperature softens the beeswax and releases the oils, which absorb quickly and leave a soft, non-greasy finish.

Your brand-new lotion bar may feel firm at first, but the more you use your bar, the softer and more responsive it becomes.

Fiber artists: Our formula is specifically well-suited for use while crafting. The beeswax base contains no extra oils that would transfer to yarn or cause stickiness. Use freely while you work. Your hands stay moisturized and your yarn stays clean!
